My first space station inspiration was from the Werner Von Braun book, "Across The Space Frontier", illustrated by Chesley Bonestell published about 5 years before the Russians launched Sputnik. That was a circular space station like the one in 2001:A Space Oddysey. It seems strange actually seeing the real thing now, and it just doesn't seem right, not being circular.
