Take a Second Look
Palli, digital paint, 27" x 40.5"
Richard Vander Wende has completely redesigned his website. Now it's faster, easier, cleaner, and he displays a larger selection of his fine art and concept art. Including the above spectacular creature. I finally saw a print of it the other day... unbelievable!

Wonderful work, and his work on Riven was astonishing - but what's he been doing the last eight and a half years?

Universal Head: it would appear he's been painting hot and cold running awesome.
That'd be my guess.

Awesome! Rich is my hero. I can honestly say his work is more vivid, intellectual, and ultimately breathtaking than anything else I have studied in the history of art.
I do think he should be producing more though, at least more frequently. Odd and a bit dissapointing that he hasn't done much beyond those two paintings in the ten years since Riven. Of course, all us Mystics Uruvians are crazy for him and want him back at Cyan pronto. Whatever he does in the coming future, I'll be sure to love and admire it.

I think what's up on his website is not necessarily his only output since Riven.
Merely what he's happened to have put up on his website.
I agree though. I'd love to see more. But dealing with websites is a pain in the ass.
