Staring at the Sun

My colorized version of Lagault's photo.

So you say astronomy is no fun? Then take a look at this blow-your-mind shot of the space shuttle and space station, silhouetted by a gigantic yellow sphere (the sun).

Station_02 Thierry Lagault, the amateur photographer who took the photo yesterday (in Normandy), definetely deserves a round of applause... what a photo!

Ooh, nice colourisation. Saw it on Wohba earlier, but the coloured version is nifty.

CBS just ran a story on this awesome shot, but with no warning on the dangers of trying to view the sun, none at all. God help them if some viewers try and get out their binocs or cheap telescope without an "in front of the objective" sun filter or the use of projection, and melt their eyeballs. Stupidest science flic story I have ever seen a major network run. Were it about an eclipse they likely would warn, but why not this time?
