Paper Snow Flake for a New Century
No, this isn't another photo from the Futurama exhibit. This is Palmanova, a similar experiment in idealized urban planning from a much earlier time. Founded in 1593, Palmanova was fortified in the shape of perfect nine-pointed star. It was the model city for a new century! Today, hundreds of years later, Palmanova is still alive and well, though its surrounding fortifications have long since been abandoned.
Scholars believe that the inspiration for Palmanova came from little paper snowflakes. The resemblance is simply uncanny... so it must be true.
