Godzilla Crime Photos

Last night, I did a Flickr search for "blue giant Marusan" and I happened upon the stunning photos of this godzilla! Along with them, I discovered a treasure trove of vinyl monsters (and vinyl toys), lovingly photographed by Geozilla (or, as he's known in the real world, George Davis).

I spent far too much time flipping through photo after photo. I swear... he makes them look like candy (and I was getting hungrier and hungrier for some candy).

Unfortunately, I have the displeasure to announce, the Marusan website has run clean out of giant blue Godzillas (he, he... because I just bought the last one)!

George has collected a few of the giant Marusan godzillas. Some mouthwatering photos of his these monsters can be seen here and here.

And for an extra treat, take a look at Tim Biskup's custom painted Gamagon. It's extraordinary!

Vintage Frames

Greetings to the countless throngs of Boingboingers who've clicked on the boingboing link (all 11 or 12 of you). Yeah, that's me, wearing vintage frames from Allyn Scura. And I hope everyone does because vintage frames never go out of style and because many of them will make you feel like a character straight out of a 60's film. And this is a wonderful feeling. (I am the evil nemesis of James Bond – I will destroy the world!)

Wondering what gave birth to Ultraman? And why? The Little Boy exhibit companion book, edited by Takashi Murakami, is now widely available and offers a provoking explanation of what forces shaped modern Japan. If you're anything like me – if you couldn't get to New York to see the show – the book's the next best thing.

The Little Boy book is in stark contrast to Brig. Gen. Paul Tibbets' website. He's the guy who dropped the Little Boy bomb on Hiroshima. Today, he's 90 years old and still flying high. And what a remarkable web presence! Stop by if you're in the market for Enola Gay or Little Boy trinkets. That's right... trinkets. Unbelievably, he peddles souvenirs of the bomb that killed thousands. Like this scale model of the Little Boy bomb, hand signed by Tibbets himself... disturbing stuff.

Universe in Blue

The New York Times just posted this image from Revenge of the Sith in a film review, by A.O. Scott. I couldn't help but staring at it for a long time before I read the article. Captivating. I like the blues. I wonder if they'll stick to this aesthetic throughout the movie.

Scott gave the film a surprisingly good review, calling it "the best of the four episodes Mr. Lucas has directed. That's right," he says, "it's better than 'Star Wars.'"
