Redesign Experimental

Gallery

I forgot to mention, I've set up my new gallery as an experiment... you get to name the images. The site looks for the most frequently occurring words of your comments; those words become the ever-evolving title for any particular piece.

Comments

From what I recall:

I liked the way the gallery was before.
As an archive the current page works nicely, but as the main gallery page, it's a little overwhelming.

Also, I liked the illo you had for the entry page. The image seemed a bit more inviting than the bubbles and black box.

The font seems more industrial and I think the font prior was a bit fun. What would you like your site to "say" about you or your work?

thanks Tanyia. When you say it's overwhelming, what specifically do you mean?

Nice feature!

Hey Robyn!

This is a cleaner design, but my criticism is that you can't navigate in a straight line from picture to picture.

Sure you've got related pictures, but internet peeps are so used to the Flickr style of lining up the images consecutively and clicking a right or left arrow to go forward and back. I think this would really improve the usability.

Let me know if you need any help with that, free of charge! Thanks!

Something you might want to look up is "Lightbox" which allows you to preload all your pictures and have the images superimposed over the whole page using left and right arrow keys to navigate.

Check out an example here:

Lightbox's open source code is super easy to set up and activate. Go here to download:
